His creative and entrepreneurial approach to independent publishing — combined with his design, illustrative, and editorial skills — has set him apart from his colleagues and won him numerous distinctions over his career. He is best known as a founder and publisher of Spacing magazine and an outspoken advocate for Toronto urban issues, as well as the author, editor, and photographer of 13 books.
